We’ve set this up to test a couple of different “voting” tools. One is built into the website itself and lets people comment on a “post.” (This is a post. A post is like a short article.) You can also reply to the comment. This tool provides “threaded comments” which means that replies to a comment get grouped with the original comment. You can also vote on a comment.
Let’s say the “idea of the week” is to have a picnic. We could write that up by itself – set up date and time, what needs to be brought, etc. Then people could leave comments about what they can bring to the picnic. Someone might volunteer to bring brownies with nuts, and another person might leave a reply like “yum” or a “vote” on brownies.
This commenting is available on every post, unless someone turns it off (it can be turned off on a post-by-post basis). Sometimes you don’t want feedback.
The other test is uservoice. Click on “ASES Ideas!” and you leave this site and go to anther site, where you can enter any ideas, comment/reply, and vote as well.
What do you think?
